Visiting Professor
Jack Cohen, PhD
Visiting Professor at BGU Chemistry Department Jack Cohen originally comes from London, England, where he obtained his BSc degree in Chemistry at Queen Mary College, London University, and his PhD degree in nucleic acid chemistry with Lord Todd at Cambridge University. He spent two years post-doc at the Weizmann Institute and another two years at Harvard Medical School. He joined Merck Research Labs, NJ, and then went to the NIH, where he worked for 22 years. He specialized in NMR spectroscopy studies of proteins and nucleic acids and he pioneered metabolic studies of cancer cells using 31P MRS. Then he pioneered drug development in the antisense area. He moved to Israel in 1996 and became Chief Scientist of the Tel Hashomer Hospital/Sheba Medical Center. After that he spent 5 years as Visiting Professor at the Pharmacology Department, Hebrew University. In 2021 he has so far published 3 papers.
